About the course

APM Project Management Qualification (PMQ)

Currently available via virtual classroom delivery. Complete your course with live trainer and take your exam online.

The APM Project Management Qualification (PMQ), is a knowledge based qualification that enables candidates to demonstrate knowledge of all elements of project management and understand how the various elements interact. It builds upon knowledge gained in the Project Fundamentals Qualification, or PFQ, and develops candidates’ understanding of how their projects fits into their strategic and commercial environment.

The APM PMQ is aligned with the SCQF (Scottish Credit & Qualifications Framework) Level 7.

When selecting your course date and booking the course online, please select the course code APMPMQ (not APMPMQP2, which is for PRINCE2 Practitioners). Bristol courses are run by Bristol Management Centre and are ELC eligible.
London, Milton Keynes and Reading courses are run by one of our ASPECT partners and venue details will be given upon booking. They are not ELC eligible. The codes for these will end with “PP”.

** BMC are proud of our pass rate for this course – 72% over the last 3 years (2018-2020) on our public scheduled courses (above national average*).

Update – September 2021 – Please note that APM data just released suggests that national pass rates for the updated BoK7 PMQ exam are now significantly lower. Candidates are now recommended to have some project management experience for the qualification to be able to demonstrate the level of understanding that is required to be successful. As of August 2021, all exams are online and a good typing speed is also essential. Please talk to our experienced team on 0117 949 1500 who can advise you further on suitability to undertake the qualification.

Reviews:
March 2021 (virtual) – “This course was one of the best I have been on in terms of applying the information immediately into my day to day tasks. I thoroughly enjoyed it.”
February 2021 (virtual) – “The trainer did a great job at keeping everyone interested and captivated – not an easy task and especially not via Teams. The everyday examples were really helpful for remembering certain aspects from the training (and I used some of them in the exam).”
September 2020 (virtual) “Excellent trainer and the online aspect has worked very well.”
August 2020 (virtual) – “As always a great course by Gary.. big thanks to all at BMC.”
July 2020 (virtual) – “Outstanding course, excellently delivered. Made enjoyable by the style of the instructor who used his considerable experience to bring the subject to life. My only criticism is that the course did not provide opportunity to network and socialise (for obvious reasons).”
June 2020 (virtual) – “I was initially apprehensive re the virtual format, but it actually worked well and the course was well taught, if intensive.”
May 2020 (virtual) – “Found the course really useful in supporting my approach to my current role, thanks to Gary and the team for making it happen in this virtual world.”
March 2020 – “Great course, an instructor who clearly knows his subject matter.”
February 2020 – ‘I was extremely pleased to get my PMQ result back this morning with a pass mark of 80%! That was an average of the whole questions as the lowest mark I got was 64% and the highest 92%! Your teaching style really resonated with me and your down to earth, practical approach made the idea of dull old project management techniques come to life and I could see the application in the real world: Good stuff!! Please don’t change your approach- it really gets the results, and your obvious experience in the leisure industry translates well into drawing analogies in other industries such as affordable housing construction which I work in currently. This is just a heartfelt thanks; I remember the smile on your face when you collated my papers- you knew, didn’t you?!’
January 2020 – “Gary was very supportive and delivered an excellent course.” “The material was communicated in a really accessible way by a very personable trainer. Thank you.”
“Already recommended the course to colleagues – excellent!”
October 2019 – “Loved that Gary added context e.g. examples of projects he’d worked on. Really great learning style.”

“The course is quite intense but the structure ensures you cover everything. Enjoyable with Gary being a very knowledgeable lecturer.”
“Came to BMC specifically to be taught by Gary (from colleagues’ feedback) – was excellent teaching from him – now considering his other courses!”
