The course covers a range of inter-related topics and is generally structured as follows:

Day 1

•          Understanding the link between business strategy and operations

•          The importance of fully understanding the supply chain, how to analyse it and impose controls

•          Making effective decisions by being aware of the cognitive biases and the decision-making context

•          Developing meaningful measurement systems by identifying the appropriate critical success factors and key performance    indicators

•          Appropriate uses of the Balanced Scorecard framework

•          Mapping processes for future improvement

•          Avoiding the Execution Gap

Day 2

Employment Law in Practice, including:

•          Good practice in the recruitment process

•          Overview of employment status and employee rights

•          Employment contracts and breach of contract

•          Avoiding the pitfalls of unfair dismissal and discrimination

•          The role of Employment Tribunals

•          Rules and obligations arising from TUPE

Day 3

•          Understanding quality and quality thinking

•          Applying Lean and Six Sigma tools to business operations

•          Developing effective management skills and techniques

•          Understanding the usefulness of different models of reward systems

•          Developing a framework for change management using the Kotter Cycle

•          Developing people management skills

•             Understanding the vital importance of performance management systems

Day 4

•          Ranmoor case study - a full day practical exercise designed to enable delegates to apply and develop all the skills learnt

Day 5

•          Identifying the difference between entrepreneurship and the general approach to business

•          Analysing management and leadership styles in a practical setting

Success Series

Our Success Series has been specifically developed to provide our delegates with an added advantage. All of our internationally recognised qualifications are available as part of the Success Series, meaning that not only will you receive your chosen accredited qualification (such as PRINCE2, MSP, Change Management) you will also have the option to complete an assignment to achieve a CMI Level 7 Award in Strategic Management and Leadership. On completion of the Award, you may wish to take further courses in the Success Series to work towards the CMI Level 7 Certificate, Diploma or Extended Diploma (charges apply).  The relevant ‘Success’ course title is available on all individual course pages. Please also see our CMI Student Handbook for more information.
All delegates using ELC funding should note that if they select this course, they are required to attempt the Level 7 Award, which involves an element of additional independent study and completion of one assignment of c. 3,000 words, in order to satisfy ELCAS that they have completed the course.
